Public APIs are different

Developing a public API in the right direction requires a specific set of experience. We'll review your existing public API or API roadmap to set your API product and your developers up for success.

MORE GOOD API STUFF

Our Products

We will look closely into all the parts of your launch. Learn whether your planned public API will be sustainable and easy to evolve as it's planned right now. Get a personalized checklist of everything you still need to do and how to do it in your particular case before and right after the launch.

We'll dive deeply into the current state of your API and your biggest pain points. A look at all the pieces of the API puzzle will reveal whether you might benefit from changes to your API design, security, observability and developer experience.

The API Shop is passionate about reducing business process costs and serving your customers by automating their boring tasks. Hence, we offer integrations with third-party APIs (related tools or Zapier), implementation of integration systems in your app, business process automation and scraping.

WHO IS API SHOP?

Led by Rich Steinmetz

Rich Steinmetz has engineered SaaS products since 2016 and has helped to launch and maintain Ruby on Rails APIs since 2021.

His pre-engineering background has instilled in him a customer-centric mindset, probabilistic thinking and a strong sense of teamwork. These qualities have helped him develop public and private APIs that meet user expectations, leading to fewer frustrations in the development team on all sides.

He loves automation and making things click together, so he devotes a lot of his time to the different pieces of the API puzzle, like API design, testing, security, observability and the business side of things. You can listen to his thoughts on the topic in the different podcasts and talks he participated in here.

APIs can be hard to get right

Public APIs can be hard to incorporate into your business strategy because of the different actors involved. On top, public API code is the most rigid, meaning that there is often little room to change it once it's public.

  • Do you feel like it's tough to pick the right direction for your API?
  • Does it seem like your developers treat your APIs as regular code, regularly introducing bugs and inconsistencies?
  • Are your customers knocking on doors because things change unexpectedly?
  • Are you frustrated that potential partners can't find your API?
  • And when it comes down to it, you usually decide to keep things as they are?

Have we already mentioned that public APIs are different?

Leaving your public API up to chance can be a costly gamble, so why not discuss it with folks who love to geek out on APIs to free your developers' time?
